How we handle ac & air duct mold cleaning
Inspect the system
Air handler, coil, drain pan, plenum, ducts and registers are checked and photographed.
Decide clean or replace
Metal and hard ducts can usually be cleaned. Flex duct with mold growth is normally replaced.
Clean or replace
HEPA negative-air duct cleaning per grille and per air handler, or new ductwork installed by a licensed AC contractor.
Fix the cause
Drain lines, insulation and airflow problems corrected so condensation stops.

AC & Air Duct Mold Cleaning FAQ
Can moldy flex duct be cleaned?
Generally no. Flex duct has a soft inner liner and insulation that cannot be reliably cleaned once mold grows on it, so it is replaced. Rigid metal duct and sheet-metal plenums can usually be cleaned.
Why do my AC vents keep getting moldy?
Usually condensation. Cold air at the register meets humid indoor air, or the system is oversized, short-cycling, or has a dirty coil. Cleaning the vents treats the symptom; correcting airflow and humidity fixes the cause.
